Every so often in furniture, we get a new product that re-defines what comfort and quality really mean. The latest manufacturer we have picked up has done exactly that and actually explains the difference between them and the rest. That company is Eilersen.
As you probably already know, quality can’t be tested online. It’s even difficult to test it in a store. True quality reveals itself after years of use. Eilersen combines the best materials with a proud tradition for craftsmanship in every product we make. Their durability speaks its own clear language.
1. A cushion alternative, which also fulfils the maintenance free stability and the downy appearance of the down cushion and optimum seat comfort and sitting climate, is the downtop cushion, which consists of a core of high-elastic polyurethane foam filled with 100% goose down and fine feathers sewn into a channel divided case of down proof cambric.
2. For seats Eilersen uses a sandwich structure consisting of polyurethane foam wrapped in a layer of 600 g pre-compressed chemically bonded cotton. Therefore these cushions retain their appearance and elasticity without maintenance.
3. In upholstery Eilersen uses a very heavy and durable polyurethane foam, which to ensure comfort has been made exceptionally soft and therefore has a maximum life. Further the foam is subjected to repeated mechanical compressions in order to reduce the inevitable loss of hardness during use. Therefore furniture made by Eilersen has built-in lasting comfort, elasticity and optimum stability of form.
4. Precision-machined solid wood offers a light and flexible sofa frame, where the parts are glued and assembled with dowels. Year in and year out these frames stand the often immense strain to which upholstered furniture is exposed.
5. Fibrefill offers the sitting person a sensation of downy softness, however, it is important that this sensation is retained even after a long time in use, and for fibrefill applies that variations in quality soon will be noticed in use. The light, cheap, hard-carded fibrefill collapses to nothing after a short time in use, while the heavy and more expensive quality, which is pre-compressed and where the fibres mostly are chemically bonded, retains the volume much better. Like polyurethane foam it applies for fibrefill, that the price increases with weight and number of treatments, but unfortunately it is not possible to see the quality of the fibrefill used, when you look on the outside of an upholstered piece of furniture.
6. The cushion case is a down proof cambric divided into channels to prevent the filling from excess movement. In your furniture all cushions except the seat cushions are of the type filled with goose down and fine feathers.
7. Goose down and fine feathers used as cushion filling offers a casual cushion and furniture with an optimum-sitting climate due to the ability of the feathers to absorb large quantities of moisture. The disadvantage, however, is that when the filling get moist it tends to stick together. Therefore this type of cushions has to be dried and shaken up regularly to retain their softness and volume.
8. The excellent long lasting seat comfort and the silent seat springing are ensured by the use of nozag springs, which are individually mounted in a special nylon lined fitting. Polyurethane foam, which is a synthetic upholstering material, is made from poly-isocyanates and polyols as the main contents. Polyurethane foam has a porous cell structure like a sponge. During the manufacturing process, the thickness of the cell wall can be controlled and thus weight and hardness of the finished product. All polyurethane foam becomes softer in use; however, it is easy to imagine that a thicker foam with a thicker cell wall offers a better durability for a longer time.
